12/26/19

Today was a simple, crash back to reality type day. After a mostly restful night sleep, my one smoke detector started chirping at 5:30. Luckily it was one of my "low ceiling" smoke detectors, so I only needed my step stool to reach it. I was able to change it, and then went back to bed for another hour and a half. When I woke up for real I had my breakfast and watched some hulu. I changed the rest of my low ceiling batteries with the batteries I had, then later in the day I bought some more 9 volt batteries and filled a prescription. I was able to pay for it with one of my Christmas gift cards, and so I told the people that gave me it "I used your gift to buy my health and safety," which they enjoyed. I processed my food gifts from Christmas so they are in their proper spots pantry organization wise. I also started charging my new cordless handheld vacuum and cleaned my stairs. It is the ONLY way I can get them clean, and for that reason I have never cleaned them in the time I've had this place. The dust bin was really full by the time I finished. I played some super monkey ball (new game) and Days Gone. I also watched 2 fast 2 furious, fast and furious Tokyo drift, and furious 7. The weird thing about furious 7 is I watched a DVR recording from FX and they rated it TV-MA, even though the movie is rated PG-13. I guess because it's pretty violent it's on the edge of PG-13 and R, and TV is a little more strict than movies, but it was still weird. I also needed to check my TV stands for the one my grandpa can use for his new TV, and I thought I would need to somehow get one of my nerd cave stands out with the help of my brother or someone, but then I remembered I have my DDR TV in my garage and that is the largest stand I have, and I can handle it myself, and it's a little too big for my garage, so it's perfect. I also wrote most of my Christmas 2019 blog, which won't come out until all my Christmas festivities are over. Later

12/23/19

Today kind of sucked. I set-out to get some chores done, mainly clean my cast iron pan and prepare and prepackage the vegetables for my beef and vegetable soup recipe while I watch Durarara. First the cast iron pan. Since I cooked bacon in it there was some pretty stuck-on grease, and since you can't use soap on cast iron I decided to loosen it with boiling. Well it got out of hand and started boiling over. I rush it to the sink but still spilled a lot of water. That was a mess I didn't want to clean up, but I did. Well then to dry it good I decided to use heat, aka put it on the burner and boil off any water. Well something was still on it because it started to smoke, REALLY bad to the point that it set off the smoke detector. When this happens I get the pan out on my deck where it can cool and smoke go off into the sky. To get rid of the smoke I turned on my air filter and set-up my window fan and turned on my furnace fan (just to suck-up the smoke and send it to the filter. Well the window fan kept falling out of my window and making a BIG noise on the table it kept hitting (it also dented the wood of the table, which sucks).

Now for the vegetable prep. Chopping up the vegetables wasn't a problem, but I put a lot of the onion and garlic skin and carrot and celery tailings down my garbage disposal. Well that ended up clogging my disposal, to the point where water wouldn't go down. Trying to work the disposal did something to it where it started leaking out the bottom, so now I have a leak under my sink. I put one of my 2 gallon buckets under it to catch all the water, but it was really annoying. I bought a pipe snake and tried snaking out the drain, but I couldn't find the part that went to the piping and where the clog was. I tried using a plunger on it, but the clog was SOOO tight I wasn't able to get any pressure down it. I poured drain cleaner in the backed up water, and fished out what I could with the snake, but it wasn't doing any good. I would turn it on intermittently but all it seemed to do was spin water around. Eventually the clog loosened up and drained, and now it seems to be working, but it was touch and go for a little bit, like I thought I was going to need to call a plumber over on emergency. At this point I'm just not going to use that side of the sink until after the holidays and I can get a plumber to fix it.

Now what of Durarara? Well something happened with the hulu app on my TV and the episode got caught in a loop, resulting in me watching the same episode like 4 times. Since I was a bit preoccupied I didn't really notice, and I thought it was one of those "we're stuck in a time loop" things, but no, I watched episode 19 like 4 times, and on the 4th time I said "OK, I know I've seen this episode before," and when I went to the show page it took me to episode 20. I'm tired. Later.

11/9-11/19

This weekend was really eventful.

Saturday was really fun. I went to pick-up a thing from mskate's parent's because I was going to see her on Sunday. It was fun seeing her family. After that I went to my parents house before the next activity, picking up my grandparents to see my friend play pro-hockey. Picking up my grandparents was an ordeal. We were supposed to just pick them up, but my mom was in a rush to get them out the door and that lead to her locking the keys in the house. She told my grandpa not to bring his keys "because I have a key," but then she left her purse in the house. After closing the door "where's my purse?" Thankfully since they rent we were able to call the association and get them to open the door, after 30 minutes in the cold. I picked up my mom's purse AND my grandpa's keys, because "we're being safe now." I had to sit in the 3rd row of my parent's journey because I'm the smallest and youngest, and it was not a comfortable car ride. We picked up my mom's friend along the way.

The game was fun. I'm not a big hockey fan, but I enjoy stadium concessions (cheese fries and mozzarella sticks) and seeing my oldest friend achieve his dream goal of playing for the pros. He's not on like a top team, but it's not highschool or college level; their name is on the stadium and they have real sponsors and season ticket holders. It was really cool watching it, and since my grandparents serious problems walking we got front row handicap seating. Since I was in a semi-obstructed view I stood most of the game. For this reason I was almost hit in the head with a stray puck in the last 5 minutes of the game. It was like 5 feet away from me. This was the second time I was almost hit by a stray sports object and one of their family member's games. The last time was at his brother's highschool baseball game where I was almost hit by a stray foul ball, so now I'm a little scared to go to their games. After the game he came out and said hi to everyone, and he was asked for an autograph. He took pictures with the family and close friends, and when he took a picture with me I mentioned how it's been 21 years (we're 26).  Drive home was uneventful. I slept most of the way to my grandparents and parents house, which I needed because I had an hour drive home.

Now for Sunday. I went to church like I normally do, and then I deposited a check which while not ordinary was a pretty normal activity. However immediately after church and check I headed down to meet mskate halfway for a day trip. It's about an hour trip for me, and while I was going down I stopped at McDonald's for a happy meal to get one of the 40th anniversary toys. I primarily wanted one as a cubicle decoration, because I enjoy decorating my cubicle. I unfortunately missed out on the promotion so I got an Incredibles 2 toy. Oh well, it'll still make a good cubicle decoration. Mskate and I went to Panera Bread for lunch, and I realized after the fact that I could have gotten extra points if I activated the promotion. Oh well. Since she was feeling a little under the weather we just went to see Maleficent Mistress of Evil. It was a pretty good movie, I just wished I had my gift card. After Maleficent we went to a Tim Hortons-Cold Stone location. She got an iced coffee and I got vanilla with an Oreo and Butterfinger mix-in. As a bit of a "food connoisseur," I knew I needed to not only pick flavors I liked (like, I wouldn't get banana ice cream or almonds because I don't like them), I needed flavors that would complement each other (chocolate ice cream would overpower most of the mix-ins), and that's how I knew I needed to use a vanilla base (a simple flavor that would complement whatever I put in it), and then picked Oreo and Butterfinger (2 flavors that would contrast well with the vanilla without being too strong).

Monday was pretty calm, if not mildly disappointing. Since it was the last official day of the Happy Meal Anniversary promotion I decided I would walk down to my local McDonalds and see if they had any. I put on my shoes and lite jacket because that's all I really needed for the last month, but then I opened the door and saw an inch of snow. It took like a minute to process that I was really under dressed for it, so I just stood their in my doorway thinking "it's snowing, I was not expecting this, what should I do now?" I decided to put on my winter gear and still make the trek. Unfortunately for me my McDonalds didn't have any more of those toys. I remembered I needed to do some grocery shopping, and so I went shopping. I picked-up bread and lettuce, and then did some impulse shopping. I'm running low on ketchup so I picked some up, and since Heinze 57 sauce was in the same aisle I picked that up. I knew I wanted to do some cooking with ground beef for things like spaghetti and meat sauce, taco, and sloppy joe, maybe meat chili, so I picked up 3 pounds of ground beef. Since chuck roasts were buy 1 get 1 free I picked up 2. Having just ran out of bacon, I picked up a pound. I also ran out of string cheese, so I picked up that as well. Now for a problem, I get to self check-out and realize I didn't have my wallet. I ask the attendant to cancel my order while I run home to get my wallet. I got my wallet and finished checking out.

After grocery shopping I decided to try some other McDonalds around me to see if they had the toys. Unfortunately they didn't, so I went home defeated. I had bacon lettuce and egg on toast for lunch. It's really good. I filmed some "Art Analysis with Dr. Pokematic" meme videos, and I was going to do all 3 for memevember, but after 2 doing the Dr. Pokematic voice was causing my throat to get sore, so I'll have to film the 3rd one on Tuesday. I got caught up on Dragon Ball Super on toonami, which was great, and now I'm caught up on toonami series. I also did some chores; dishes, laundry, and cooking and processing the ground beef. I was going to make a batch of gluten free brownies, but then I just said "not enough time left." Bio and I were going to record an episode of the peanut butter podcast on Monday, because he was unavailable Friday and I was unavailable Saturday and Sunday, but then he became unavailable Monday as well. Lucky for me our friend Ultranatic was available and we had a good time talking about the topics I wanted to cover (Seasame Street Lost and Found event, my dollar movie theater closing down, playstation vue ending, and a vidme 2 electric boogaloo story), and other fun reality show and content creator things. Different friend, different areas of interest, different flavor of podcast topics. Plus, right before we started recording he gave me an idea for what the intro gag should be, which I ended up using.

All in all really good weekend. Sure there were some disappointments, and a near serious injury experience, but overall I still had fun. Later.

9/21-22/19

Sorry I've been away so long, need to get back to this.
This weekend was very productive. On Saturday I went shopping at the meat market and Ollie's bargain outlet. Mskate heard they sometimes have these special activity/toy books for good prices and I said I would have a look next time I went. I got her a Dora book and Beauty and the Beast book for her clients for a great price, and then I did some shopping of my own stocking up on soap, shampoo, glass cleaner, and snacks. I always seem to buy more than I intended when I go there, but I only buy consumables so it's not like my house is full of nick-nacks. I also had some coupons for the meat market, and stocked up on meat. Once I got home I realized I still have plenty of meat, but I have a deep freeze so it's not like I'm losing anything. I also cleaned my bathrooms, which needed some TLC.

On Sunday I organized my kitchen some (mainly straitening out my pile of bags I use as trash bags) and cooked some of the meat I got at the meat market (bacon and hamburgers, yum). I also went to church like I always do, and after church stopped at the grocery store to get some frosting (and I picked up some perogies, just because I wanted some). Why did I pick-up frosting? Because I was going to try home made donuts again. Last time I tried them they turned out too heavy, too much flour not enough wet ingredients. This time I used a little extra milk and double the egg (basically made a half batch but with the same amount of egg). They turned out much better this time, and the frosting made them even better. I still have some experimenting to do, but I'll be ready to make my gluten free ones for mskate on Thursday. Yay.

Now for "online persona" stuff, because I got a lot done as well. Friday was the scheduled Area 51 raid (look up Area 51 raid if you don't know the meme). I memed it with these 2 images. The first was "I'm here to see aliens and play steam game, and I don't have steam game."
Then I made this one saying "Some Secrets are better left unknown."

I'm always one to join in on the meme trend.

I also got a lot of videos made and uploaded. I got an anime review on Digimon Frontier and a Toonami review on Promised Neverland uploaded. I recorded and uploaded a catholiccontriversy video on EyeOfSol's latest conundrum. I recorded and rendered my Toonami review for Sword Art Online Alicization and Fathom review for Promare. If I don't upload them tonight I'll get them up tomorrow. Felt very productive this weekend. Tomorrow I'll process my meat as well, because I have a lot to process and it'll keep in my fridge. Later.

7/13-14/19

Sorry I've been distant. Here are some fun things I did over the weekend. Saturday I did some deep cleaning. I cleaned my bathrooms really deep (shower, toilets, and floors) and kitchen sink. They look really good now. My shower door is supposed to be transparent, but the build up of soap scum made it look frosted, and my kitchen sink barely looked like stainless steel. I watched Monk on amazon, and later that night I had a dream where I was Monk trying to solve one of his weird cases. When I woke up I said "I need to stop watching so much Monk." I saw Spiderman Far From Home, and it was good. I went out to the meat market to get bacon ends and pieces for the campout next weekend, but it was closed when I got there. Dang-it.

Now for Sunday. I had church and it was good. I had patreon calls with a guy I support, and it was funny. He uses discord for the calls, and I did the 2PM one, and it was fun. Then later when I was rendering videos I was wondering why my computer was running so slow. Then at around 6PM he had another call, and because I had discord running in the background I just started hearing them talk. I then jumped onto the call, and since I've been a long time supporter and am friends with everyone on the call I was allowed to stay. Later.

4/27-28/19

Thus was a fun weekend. My Pre-order of Days Gone came in, and I'm quite happy with it so far. Is it perfect? No. But it's a single player first game with no "shared world" crap. Not exactly my first choice of game, but honestly at this point, if there's a focus on single player I'm interested. I also watched some movies on hulu, fun times. I saw some movies, Wonder Park and Aleta Battle Angel at my cheap show, and Shazam at the normal movies. Wonder Park is a great film. Wonder Park was great. Don't let the critics tell you otherwise, they were just expecting something different and therefore missed the point. I cleaned my grill (mainly the cart it's on and exterior, because it was covered in grease), so that's good. I got caught up on Bill Whittle content. I also read some more pages of Catcher in the Rye and took more notes. Oh man, this is going to be an epic series. Later.

4/13-14/19 (and a little of 12th).

Oh man, Friday the 12th was my boss's last day. We had some fun in his last half hour trying to get a group picture and saying goodbye. That was a fun way to end the week. Because it was his last day and I knew he wouldn't do something like this, I wore my Pikachu shirt to work. I did this when one of my other coworkers left our location. I also bought a 33 inch CRT TV at a garage sale, and struggled it up the stairs of my condo. It took me about 30 minutes. I'm still a little sore.

Saturday was a pretty simple day. I did some cleaning and laundry, and video chatted with my girlfriend. I also played some videogames and watched hulu. I chatted with ultranatic about future projects and possible colabs, so stay tuned.

Sunday was fun. I went to church and it was Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is probably my favorite mass, because we get palm branches. Loved it when I was a kid, still love it today. I also had a patreon call with AniMat, and that was pretty fun. The big thing I did was I went to my parents around 4PM and we made pretzels and dyed eggs. I brought the egg dye kit, and should have brought my vinegar since my parents was old and a little diluted. Either way it was a really fun thing. Afterwards we went out to dinner, pizza at our favorite place. Grand old time. Later.

4/6-7/19

This was a fun little weekend. First off, we had a going away party for my supervisor on Friday at a BBQ place, and being Lent that meant I couldn't have any of the yummy meat. So instead I decided to try an impossible burger (veggie burger that's supposed to taste like meat). I figured "if it's good, I'll enjoy it, and if it's not, I'll douse it in BBQ sauce to mask the bad flavor." I didn't have to mask the flavor though, because it was actually good. I went to see my grandparents and help them move some things, but first I went to see my parents and brother. Since I got there early, I hung out with my dad and brother for an hour or so. We watched SpongeBob season 10, and it was fun; 3 grown adults, just watching SpongeBob together and laughing at the same things, and this was the first time we really did this exact thing. Seeing my grandparents was fun. We moved photo albums, and went out to lunch. After lunch before we left I told them about my girlfriend, and they basically freaked out with excitement (they've known her for a while, so it was funny). My parents gave me a box of stuff from the computer room, and in that box was our old phones from like 10 years ago. On my brother's phone I found some creepy pasta fuel. I'll turn it into something this weekend. I also went shopping, and bought 15 pounds of meat at the meat market. I got ground beef and wanted to make some hamburgers and try to make some meatballs. I think I screwed up the meatballs since they got burnt, but whatever, I'll try again next time. Sunday was pretty laid back. I made some of the meat, went to church, and talked with my girlfriend. Nothing much else of note. Later.

3/16-17/19, St. Patricks Day

So this weekend was kind of slow, kind of. I binged the remaining 13 episodes of The Mick and recorded the episodes of The Mick Logs. I will trickle them out over the next month or so. I also bought a frame for my poster for The Monkees Present The Mike and Micky Show, and hung that poster and my autographed poster of The Day Job (a feature length student film made by my college film club). I played some Stardew Valley too. For St. Patrick's Day I wore my green island shirt, ate Lucky Charms for breakfast, corned beef and potato perogies for lunch, and pork chops and 3 fried potatoes for dinner (these were small, I'm not a glutton). I also called my grandparents. I digitized some unusual VHS tapes I got at thrift stores. There are some that will definitely make for good videos in the future. I also had the patreon call with...my mutual friend (that's a peanut butter podcast reference). Not much else. I might record the remaining scenes for the collaboration I'm doing with my mutual friend. Later.

3/9-10/19

This weekend was quite fun. On either Monday or Tuesday my garage door opener broke. One of the brackets sheered off and the belt stopped driving the door. I located the part number and bought a replacement on amazon (thank-you prime) and had my dad and brother over to fix it (and rotate my mattress, and move the TV unit I got over the summer up from my garage into my unit). Dad and bro get here Saturday around 10 AM and we begin our work. I grab my tool bag and the part, and we start assessing the situation and how we'll go about this. We take the drive bar off and replace just the part that got broken. Well, that didn't quite work since it also required the thread pin that came with it (it was a slightly different size pin). About 40 minutes after and we get it fixed, so we think. We try it, and the door won't fully open. It kept stopping right as it was going up. At first we thought there was something that was getting caught on the track, and we did locate a portion that was out of alignment. We knocked it back in, but to no avail. Now dad figures there's too much friction on the wheels and tracks, so we go to the auto parts store for lube. We got a can of WD40 and a pound of grease. We were going to get a 5 ounce tube, but it was the same price for a pound (lower quality, but still effective). Now for a funny story. As we were checking out, some guy in a mechanic's outfit and grease covered hands, and asked my dad for help turning over his car. He was like "hey man, I need help turning over my car, can you help me?" and my dad said "uhhh, OK." The guy behind the counter said "I would have helped him, but whatever." My brother and I go out to see them working on this guy's car, and he had some funny thank-you stories about how "this is what happens when you let other people work on your car," as he drives away with exhaust coming out of the side of his truck. We had some laughs about it afterwards, and his logic of "well it's broad daylight and I have my sons with me, this can't turn out really bad." My brother and I cover the tracks in grease while my dad sprays the wheels with WD40. We used half a pound of grease, and we were glad we bought the pound of grease. Well that didn't quite work since it opened twice, but then stopped. Eventually we figured out the opener doesn't like to be opened multiple times in a row, and the job was done.

Between this ordeal, my brother and I rotated my mattress, because I was making a grove in it. We also moved the TV unit I got over the summer at a garage sale for free. It's one of those wood panel things where you put a CRT in the middle, can put a VCR above or below it, and then there are drawers for tapes and other things. I pulled one of my spare CRTs out from behind my VHS wall (I have a "hide in plain sight" thing with my VHS wall), and my brother and I put it in. It's great. After all this we went to a local bar where I bought my brother and dad lunch. It's this bar that has a unique variety of beer, and they like beer. We each had a beer that matches our tastes while talking about life and eating a lighter lunch. After lunch and some more time, we went to mass with my grandparents in honor of my uncle, and afterwards we went out to dinner. It was a good meal, and got to see everyone. Good time.

Now for Sunday. I met my girlfriend halfway between our cities for an afternoon of fun and exploring. We went to the outback steakhouse for lunch, and that was a good meal. I also showed her how to put more windshield wiper fluid in her car (I like being able to be her handyman, I've helped with other handyman chores in the past). After lunch we went to the mall in the city and just walked around holding hands. We went to some stores, and I helped her pick out some new ear rings (because she needed some where the backs wouldn't fall out, and I know my physics properties). It was a pretty empty mall, with a lot of vacant store locations, but there was a little arcade with "quarter in-quarter out" coin pushers. Since I have a coin pusher, I looked at them to see if it was worth playing, but after looking at them I said "no, those are not ready to pay out." We also took some pictures, because we wanted some pictures together. After the mall we went to get ice cream. That was fun. We did a little more exploring of the city, but didn't find anything else, so we just sat in my car listening to music. After 4 or so hours together, we went home. Apparently I didn't fully close the hood of her car, and it was rattling (she has one of those hood locks that keeps it from flying open if not fully closed). I got a concerned call on my drive home, and I explained what happened and how to fix it, and after stopping at the next exit everything was fine. That was my weekend. Later.

3/2-3/19

OK, so this was a semi-eventful weekend. I did laundry, and was expecting to do a little bit of video production. Well, then my toaster oven caught on fire. My coworkers and I went to Wahlburgers for lunch on Friday (because we were by one on a day trip) and I had left over onion rings. Well, they were REALLY greasy, and then I looked away and the grease caught on fire. I had to use my fire extinguisher, and pulled this little vlog out of it.

OK, so with that out of the way, the rest of my Saturday went pretty uneventful.

Now for Sunday. I went shopping. I bought a weight blanket, and kitchen window fan, and some consumables at the outlet store. Then I bought meat at the meat market. I bought more than I expected, planning just some bacon or something, but I bought like 15 pounds of meat. Yay. I got pork stew, and made a nice stew that lasts 3 meals. Also yay. I played a lot of stardew valley as well. I'm remembering why I love this game so much. Not much else to talk about. Later.

2/9-10/19

This weekend I basically cleaned. I needed to sort through my junk mail and other things I piled up on my couch, so I did that. I also cleaned my bathrooms. And I did my dishes. And I did laundry. And I emptied my garbage cans and recycling box. And did some Swiffer sweeping. That was a lot of what I did. I also cooked up the bacon I had, and now I have bacon for some weeks (still need to process it for long term storage, but it's all there). I also did grocery shopping, which was kind of needed (I would have survived, but I wanted some specifics like lettuce). I also rented some movies from redbox while I was there (lego ninjago movie, Jumanji welcome to the jungle, and Tomb Raider 2018 specifically). I also binged all of hulu's new series pen15. It was pretty good. I also figured out a new recipe, beef boiled potatoes; it's chopped potatoes cooked in beef juice for an hour. Super yummy. Later.

1/26-27/19

This weekend was kind of rough. On Tuesday I got what turned into a cold, and it hit me hardest on Saturday. I spent the whole day huddled up in my robe blowing my nose. I did record a peanut butter podcast with my friend ultranatic guesting (because we wanted to talk about Tom Green on celebrity big brother, and neither Bio nor I are well versed in reality shows, but he is). I also watched some movies that are getting ready to expire on hulu and crackle. The big thing I did was play "spot my friends" on the big skating nationals competition on TV. She had like 2nd row seats, and was on TV a lot. I made a game of taking pictures of mskate and her mom when they were on TV (video clips if the skater was doing a spinning thing in front of them). On Sunday my friend's daughter got baptized, and I went to that, even though I was a bit under the weather. I just abstained from hugging everyone. That's basically what my weekend was. Later.

1/12-1/13

OK, been a while since I posted one of these. So what did I do this weekend? On Saturday I recorded a podcast with bioshock infinite WD. I also went to see the Death of Superman and Reign of Superman double feature. I also tried out streaming. At some point I'm going to do more streaming. I also won a steam game from shitposting on a meme site I use, yay. I worked on uploading a backlog of fathom reviews. Wow, that was a lot. I had some trouble uploading to dtube, so I got them uploaded on Monday. Later.
