This weekend was really eventful.
Saturday was really fun. I went to pick-up a thing from mskate's parent's because I was going to see her on Sunday. It was fun seeing her family. After that I went to my parents house before the next activity, picking up my grandparents to see my friend play pro-hockey. Picking up my grandparents was an ordeal. We were supposed to just pick them up, but my mom was in a rush to get them out the door and that lead to her locking the keys in the house. She told my grandpa not to bring his keys "because I have a key," but then she left her purse in the house. After closing the door "where's my purse?" Thankfully since they rent we were able to call the association and get them to open the door, after 30 minutes in the cold. I picked up my mom's purse AND my grandpa's keys, because "we're being safe now." I had to sit in the 3rd row of my parent's journey because I'm the smallest and youngest, and it was not a comfortable car ride. We picked up my mom's friend along the way.
The game was fun. I'm not a big hockey fan, but I enjoy stadium concessions (cheese fries and mozzarella sticks) and seeing my oldest friend achieve his dream goal of playing for the pros. He's not on like a top team, but it's not highschool or college level; their name is on the stadium and they have real sponsors and season ticket holders. It was really cool watching it, and since my grandparents serious problems walking we got front row handicap seating. Since I was in a semi-obstructed view I stood most of the game. For this reason I was almost hit in the head with a stray puck in the last 5 minutes of the game. It was like 5 feet away from me. This was the second time I was almost hit by a stray sports object and one of their family member's games. The last time was at his brother's highschool baseball game where I was almost hit by a stray foul ball, so now I'm a little scared to go to their games. After the game he came out and said hi to everyone, and he was asked for an autograph. He took pictures with the family and close friends, and when he took a picture with me I mentioned how it's been 21 years (we're 26). Drive home was uneventful. I slept most of the way to my grandparents and parents house, which I needed because I had an hour drive home.
Now for Sunday. I went to church like I normally do, and then I deposited a check which while not ordinary was a pretty normal activity. However immediately after church and check I headed down to meet mskate halfway for a day trip. It's about an hour trip for me, and while I was going down I stopped at McDonald's for a happy meal to get one of the 40th anniversary toys. I primarily wanted one as a cubicle decoration, because I enjoy decorating my cubicle. I unfortunately missed out on the promotion so I got an Incredibles 2 toy. Oh well, it'll still make a good cubicle decoration. Mskate and I went to Panera Bread for lunch, and I realized after the fact that I could have gotten extra points if I activated the promotion. Oh well. Since she was feeling a little under the weather we just went to see Maleficent Mistress of Evil. It was a pretty good movie, I just wished I had my gift card. After Maleficent we went to a Tim Hortons-Cold Stone location. She got an iced coffee and I got vanilla with an Oreo and Butterfinger mix-in. As a bit of a "food connoisseur," I knew I needed to not only pick flavors I liked (like, I wouldn't get banana ice cream or almonds because I don't like them), I needed flavors that would complement each other (chocolate ice cream would overpower most of the mix-ins), and that's how I knew I needed to use a vanilla base (a simple flavor that would complement whatever I put in it), and then picked Oreo and Butterfinger (2 flavors that would contrast well with the vanilla without being too strong).
Monday was pretty calm, if not mildly disappointing. Since it was the last official day of the Happy Meal Anniversary promotion I decided I would walk down to my local McDonalds and see if they had any. I put on my shoes and lite jacket because that's all I really needed for the last month, but then I opened the door and saw an inch of snow. It took like a minute to process that I was really under dressed for it, so I just stood their in my doorway thinking "it's snowing, I was not expecting this, what should I do now?" I decided to put on my winter gear and still make the trek. Unfortunately for me my McDonalds didn't have any more of those toys. I remembered I needed to do some grocery shopping, and so I went shopping. I picked-up bread and lettuce, and then did some impulse shopping. I'm running low on ketchup so I picked some up, and since Heinze 57 sauce was in the same aisle I picked that up. I knew I wanted to do some cooking with ground beef for things like spaghetti and meat sauce, taco, and sloppy joe, maybe meat chili, so I picked up 3 pounds of ground beef. Since chuck roasts were buy 1 get 1 free I picked up 2. Having just ran out of bacon, I picked up a pound. I also ran out of string cheese, so I picked up that as well. Now for a problem, I get to self check-out and realize I didn't have my wallet. I ask the attendant to cancel my order while I run home to get my wallet. I got my wallet and finished checking out.
After grocery shopping I decided to try some other McDonalds around me to see if they had the toys. Unfortunately they didn't, so I went home defeated. I had bacon lettuce and egg on toast for lunch. It's really good. I filmed some "Art Analysis with Dr. Pokematic" meme videos, and I was going to do all 3 for memevember, but after 2 doing the Dr. Pokematic voice was causing my throat to get sore, so I'll have to film the 3rd one on Tuesday. I got caught up on Dragon Ball Super on toonami, which was great, and now I'm caught up on toonami series. I also did some chores; dishes, laundry, and cooking and processing the ground beef. I was going to make a batch of gluten free brownies, but then I just said "not enough time left." Bio and I were going to record an episode of the peanut butter podcast on Monday, because he was unavailable Friday and I was unavailable Saturday and Sunday, but then he became unavailable Monday as well. Lucky for me our friend Ultranatic was available and we had a good time talking about the topics I wanted to cover (Seasame Street Lost and Found event, my dollar movie theater closing down, playstation vue ending, and a vidme 2 electric boogaloo story), and other fun reality show and content creator things. Different friend, different areas of interest, different flavor of podcast topics. Plus, right before we started recording he gave me an idea for what the intro gag should be, which I ended up using.
All in all really good weekend. Sure there were some disappointments, and a near serious injury experience, but overall I still had fun. Later.
